TechTown Amenities

What are the building amenities at TechTown?

Coworking at TechTown Detroit provides a number of amenities within our space and through the Wayne State University network. See list below of membership perks for our coworking community members:

Brivo Access Card (TechTown Facility Access)

Once you have signed on as a member, you will be issued a Brivo mobile pass. Your Brivo pass gives you access to our TechTown community. There is a $10 fee if you would like a Brivo Card or a replacement card.

UPS

We have daily guaranteed pickup for UPS packages. Simply print your label and put it on your package, bring it down to the shelf at the front desk and you’re all set! For same day pickup, please bring it down to the front desk before 12pm. Please note that Members and Tenants are still responsible for shipping charges.

Parcel Pending

For  mailbox members: TechTown utilizes the Parcel Pending system for packages that are too large to fit inside your mailbox. If you receive a Parcel Pending invite it is not a phishing scam.  Please be sure to register for Parcel Pending as soon as you receive the invitation, in order to avoid missed or returned packages due to size restrictions.

Important things to note:

  • You will receive an email notification for any items held at the front desk.
  • Packages that fit in the Parcel Pending lockers will be delivered to the first floor locker system.
  • Packages too large for both the mailbox and the lockers will be held at the front desk for 48 hours after notification.
    • After the 48 hours, packages held at the front desk will be stamped return to the sender.

SafeWalk

If you’re here after hours and feel unsafe walking to your car, feel free to call the Wayne State Police Department and a police officer will escort you to your car.
Phone Number: (313) 577-2222

Emergency Phone
A compliant emergency phone is located on the west side of the vestibule (upon entering the building). Pressing the help button will provide quick and reliable handsfree communication for emergencies.

Lockout Fee

There is a $5.00 lockout fee for tenants and/or mailbox members requesting access to their suites and/or their mailbox that do not have their key on hand.

Parking

Parking is available in our TechTown Detroit/MDOT lot located at the Northeast corner of Cass Ave. and Amsterdam St. Parking is first come, first served as our lot is used by community and visitors around TechTown. Hangtags are required to utilize the lot and the paperwork to obtain them can be requested at the front desk, for a $10 fee.
Bike parking is located inside of the coworking space at TechTown. As a courtesy, please do not store your bike overnight at TechTown.

As a reminder, Wayne State parking (I2C lots or the lot located directly behind 6001 Cass) is prohibited to vehicles without WSU permit parking tags. Parking patrols are active and it is in your best interest to utilize our free and secure TechTown parking lot, located at Cass and Amsterdam.

Recycling/Trash

Recycling areas are located on all floors of TechTown. Recyclables include plastic, paper, returnables and glass. Cardboard must be broken down and taken to the loading dock located in the back of our building. Stop by the front desk and a Community Ambassador will happily assist you to gain access to the loading dock area.

Shred-It Bins

Please use the Shred-It bins at TechTown only for sensitive or confidential documents (located on the first floor coworking space). For everyday paper waste, feel free to use the regular recycling bins located throughout the building.

Tenants

Please note that our cleaning crew empties your trash and recycle bins in your office daily.  If you prefer the cleaning crew to not enter your office, please place the bins directly outside of the office.
